Adding a photo to a study note

Attach an image — a photo, screenshot, or scan — to any note on a verse.

Study notes can include a photo alongside your written or audio reflection. This is useful for attaching a journal page, a photograph that connects to the passage, a map, a quote you photographed, or anything else meaningful to your family.

How to attach a photo

  1. Open the Study Note Editor for any verse (tap the verse in Listen, then tap Add Note or open an existing note to edit).
  2. Tap the photo icon or the image upload area in the editor.
  3. Choose a file from your device — your camera roll, photo library, or file browser.
  4. A preview of the image appears in the editor before you save.
  5. Add any written text you want alongside it, then tap Save.

A note can contain a photo on its own, with no written text required. You can also combine a photo with written text, a voice note, or both.

What your family sees

When your note is shared with the family, the photo displays inline in the note card — family members can tap it to view it full size. No separate download or link required.

Replacing or removing a photo

Open the note for editing. The current photo is shown in the editor.

ActionHow
ReplaceTap the image upload area again and choose a new file. The old photo is replaced when you save.
RemoveTap the × button on the photo preview to clear it before saving.

If you close the editor without saving, no changes are made.

Tips

  • Most common image formats work: JPEG, PNG, HEIC, and WebP.
  • Very large files (from a high-resolution camera) will upload fine but may take a moment on a slow connection. Cropping or reducing resolution beforehand speeds things up.
  • Screenshots from a Bible app, commentary, or devotional are a great way to add context to a verse note.
  • Photos stay stored securely in your family's library and are not visible to anyone outside your family.
